MADANI METALS

Cobalt

Lustrous | Unbreakable | Light

Cobalt is a chemical element with symbol Co and atomic number 27. The metal has a very high durability as it cannot break, crack, or shatter due to the hardness of the metal.

Cobalt looks like white gold and is four times stronger than platinum while being less dense, it does not darken with time, remaining a lustrous white gold-like color.

Cobalt rings are not sizable due to their hardness but a new ring can always be made in the size requested. Cobalt is hypo-allergenic so not to worry if you are allergic to any specific metals.

Ceramic

Lightweight | Durable | Mono

Jewelry made from ceramic isn't made from the same ceramic you find in most craft stores. The ceramic is actually called Hi-Tech Ceramic and it is the same ceramic used as a heat guard in space shuttles.

The shine and smooth appearance lasts for a lifetime. For someone on the move, the lightweight nature of Hi-Tech Ceramic makes it a great choice for an everyday ring.

Hi Tech Ceramic rings are not sizable due to their hardness but a new ring can always be made in the size requested. Hi-Tech Ceramic is hypo-allergenic so not to worry if you are allergic to any specific metals.

Tungsten

Heavy | Dense | Wear-Resistant

Tungsten literally means "Heavy Stone", it is element 74 on the periodic table of elements and is known for its dark-grey gun-metal color, high density, and hardness. In the jewelry industry, it is known as Tungsten Carbide which is a compound of the metal tungsten and carbon.

Tungsten Carbide rings are extremely scratch-resistant and require little or no maintenance throughout its life span. If you're looking for that heavy feel and durability - Tungsten is the metal of choice. Although Tungsten is a very hard metal, it can be cracked if it is struck against a hard enough surface at a high level of impact. Tungsten carbide rings are not sizable due to their hardness but a new ring can always be made.

Gold

Unbreakable | Precious | Soft

Gold is a chemical element with the symbol Au (from Latin: aurum) and the atomic number 79. It is thought to have been present in the dust from which the Solar System was formed.

Being a soft metal, gold can be marked quite easily but cannot be broken.

Mixing Gold with other metals allows for different karat values and also gold colors (Rose, Yellow, & White). It is a luxurious commodity that dates back centuries, being used for tools and jewelry today.

Unlike most alternative metals, a ring made entirely of gold can be re-sized so long as the size difference is reasonable.

Silver

Silver

Very Soft | White | Conductive

Silver has the atomic number 47 and is from the latin term argentum which means shiny or white. Some interesting facts about silver is that it is the most reflective and conductive from any of the metals. Although it is used as an alloy with gold and other metals, silver is offered on its own as jewelry as a lower cost alternative to Gold or Platinum.

The metal itself is quite soft even softer than gold so you would want to avoid occurances where the metal comes into contact with some force with another object. The weight of silver is quite close to 10K gold, that is 1 gram of 10K white gold is similar to the weight 1 gram of silver.

At MADANI Rings, you can look through the KARAT collection or our other collections for rings that are available in silver inlay or all in silver.

Platinum

Platinum

Platinum has the atomic number 78, it is very dense and heavy, highly unreactive, and is derived from the Spanish term platino. This metal is one of the rarer elements in the Earth's crust and only a few hundred tonnes are produced annually. With its high resistance to corrosion, even at high temperatures, it is considered a noble metal like Rhodium (Rh).

The main advantage with Platinum is that unlike white gold it will keep its white color and does not need Rhodium plating to make it look very white and lustrous. Platinum is 1.88 times heavier than 10K white gold which is almost 2 times and a very big difference in your hand in terms of weight.

You can view the KARAT-S collection and choose Platinum as an option.
