As the 2018 Wedding Season draws to a close, its time to look back on those high-profile weddings that inspired us this year. There was Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk, Kit Harington and Rose Leslie, and a second Royal Wedding with Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, but if there is one wedding that really stood out this year, it would have to be that of Chiara Ferragni and her rapper beau Fedez.

Wait! Who?

Now unless you are a fashion designer, fashion blogger, or fashionista, you may not be familiar with the name Chiara Ferragni, but she is, in fact, one of the biggest fashion influencers in the world. She topped Forbes Fashion Influencers List in 2017, her blog ‘The Blonde Salad’ has over 15.4 million Instagram followers worldwide, and she even went on to become a Harvard Business School Case Study, and so she is big news in the world of social media. Basically, she’s an Italian superstar.

Chiara’s now-husband, Federico Leonardo Lucia or ‘Fedez’ as he is known to his adoring fans, is an Italian musician and rapper. His first album reached number #1 on the Italian Albums Chart, and he’s had a bunch of singles go platinum, but it is perhaps his love for tattoos and piercings that he is most recognized for.

So, now you know who they are, let’s get back to the wedding!

The Ferragnez Wedding of the Year

The Chiara Ferragni and Fedez Wedding fondly referred to as the Ferragnez Wedding by the couple, is believed to be one of the most popular Instagram ceremonies ever. The beautiful couple exchanged their own vows on September 1^st in front of 140 guests at Dimora Delle Balze, a restored 19th-century estate in Sicily, Italy. Described as the most extravagant wedding of 2018, it is rumoured to have cost well over $1,000,000 US dollars, and with 3 designer wedding gowns, a Coachella-inspired after-party, a private plane to transport friends and family, and a custom amusement park, we are inclined to believe that the rumours are indeed true.

Chiara Ferragni: 3 Wedding Dresses and a Jumpsuit

Chiara wowed on her wedding day is not one but three Dior Haute Couture wedding dresses by Maria Grazia Chiuri. Her ceremony dress, a traditional gown with a high neck, three-quarter sleeves, and a full tulle skirt was actually a 2-piece ensemble consisting of a crochet lace jumpsuit, a female tradition in many parts of southern Italy, and a voluminous overskirt. The result was a timeless yet contemporary gown that complimented the bride's figure and personality to perfection. She glided down the aisle, a vision in white, but there was more to come…

After the ceremony, Chiara changed into her second Dior wedding dress of the day, a bespoke powder pink tulle evening gown with a fitted bustier bodice, delicate straps, and a full skirt. Referred to as the ‘Love Story’ dress, the gown was beautifully embroidered with lyrics from Fedez’s song ‘Favorisca I Sentimenti’ which he sang to Chiara before proposing on stage in Verona. Other delicate embellishments were linked to special moments the couple has shared during their courtship, such as a small lion to represent their baby son Leone.

For the afterparty, Chiara changed once again into her third and final wedding dress, which included the bodice of the Love Story Dress combined with a shorter ballerina style mini tulle skirt. This gave the bride the freedom to dance freely and join in with the fairground fun.

The Ferragnez Wedding Reception

The Ferragnez Wedding Reception was a magnificent affair that started with the wedding dinner followed by a Coachella-themed after party with a custom amusement park, Ferris Wheel, and Carousel.  The dinner venue was exquisite with flowers, candles, and a canopy of ceiling lights that transformed the room into a fairy-tale grotto.

After the sumptuous menu, guests headed outside for some fairground fun, where they could take a spin on the carousel, play games to win Ferragnez souvenirs, and munch on cotton candy.  The evening ended with a spectacular firework display – the perfect end to a perfect day.
